When it comes to choosing a new car, many people list safety as a top priority. If you are looking for something that is both safe and affordable, the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander is a great choice. Recently, the Mitsubishi Outlander’s safety was recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) with a Top Safety Pick recognition.
“As an engineering-focused company, we build safety,
quality and dependability into every one of our vehicles,” said Mark
Chaffin, chief operating officer, MMNA. “Earning the IIHS Top Safety Pick is a key reason
for customers to place the Outlander at the top of their shopping list, proving
it one of the most competitive vehicles in the incredibly popular compact SUV
To earn the Top Safety Pick status, the Outlander earned the
top “good” rating in the moderate overlap front, driver-side small overlap
front, passenger-side small overlap front, side, roof strength, and head
restraint tests. It also earned a “superior” rating for front crash prevention
when equipped with available safety features.
With the SEL Touring Package, the 2019 Outlander comes
equipped with Forward Collision Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane
Departure Warning, Automatic High Beams, and a multi-view camera system. The
SEL model comes standard with Blind Spot Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Alert
and Lane Change Assist.
An automotive alliance could have a major impact on an upcoming model of the Mitsubishi Outlander.
Automotive giants Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi have had an alliance since 1999, and now Renault and Nissan — which controls Mitsubishi — are talking about a merger. The companies, however, aren’t waiting for a merger to make a big move.
As part of the alliance’s attempt to make further inroads in the American crossover market, the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander will reportedly be based on the wider, longer frame of the Nissan Rogue. That would make the Outlander noticeably different in size from Mitsubishi’s other crossover vehicles, the Outlander Sport and the Eclipse Cross. The 2021 Outlander may also have a plug-in, hybrid model.
While the Outlander and Rogue will share the same base, they’ll be different enough to have their own design and marketing strategies.
The Outlander will be the first Mitsubishi to benefit from sharing a Nissan platform, but others could follow. The Outlander Sport will reportedly be built on the same frame used by the Nissan Versa, Kicks, and Juke. There are also rumors that Mitsubishi might build a mid-sized truck on an alliance platform. That’s a move that would make customers hungry for such a vehicle very happy. Until then, come to Biggers Mitsubishi and take a test drive of a new 2018 Outlander!
Each year, Kelley Blue Book offers a series of awards, all of which are considered extremely prestigious in the auto industry. One of the award series the website offers is the KBB.com Most Affordable Cars in different categories. This year, Mitsubishi won several spots in the 10 Most Affordable New Cars category and the 10 Most Affordable 3-Row Vehicles.
The Mitsubishi Outlander didn’t just make the 10 Most Affordable 3-Row Vehicles list, it topped it, making it the most affordable three-row vehicle you can buy. Seven-passenger SUVs typically require a much higher cost than smaller cars, which can put a strain on families who need extra space—but the Outlander is priced around the same as full-size sedans and small SUVs, making it much more accessible for the average American family.
The Mitsubishi Mirage made the 10 Most Affordable New Cars list in 7th place, after being named the most affordable car to lease based on a study by Growella and winning multiple most affordable awards since it was first released in 2014 for the 2015 model year. The Mirage is one of the lowest-priced vehicles on the market and is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicle in America. It also offers lots of features and technologies, which make it an even better value.

At the end of 2016, Mitsubishi rolled out a fun new ad campaign featuring children talking about the safety features in the Mitsubishi Outlander. The “Kids Talk Safety” campaign was intended to highlight all of the family-friendly capabilities standard in the 2017 Outlander in order to appeal to modern-day moms and dads looking for something that will keep their kids safe. Mitsubishi is being recognized for the campaign as a finalist for the 2017 WOMMY Awards
What are the WOMMY Awards? Every year, WOMMA – or “Word of Mouth Marketing Association” – honors brands and agencies behind the best social media and word of mouth marketing campaigns. Mitsubishi had already won the 2017 Driving Engagement Award when it drew the attention of the people behind WOMMA for the brand’s honest commitment towards safety and family values.
While the “Kids Talk Safety” campaign did make the finals, it did not end up taking home the gold. Goodroom won the top award for its Break-Up Insurance campaign, while the silver went to Singapore Tourism Board for its Lyft of a Lifetime ad. However, Mitsubishi is the Bronze Winner, cementing its place among the top three. If you’re interested in the safety features the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander offers to families, come check it out at Biggers Mitsubishi.
Winter can be an extremely difficult time of the year for driving. Even vehicles like the Mitsubishi Outlander can experience problems on the icy roads. Meanwhile, Chicago is a city well-known for its extreme weather conditions. Therefore, you can only imagine how difficult it is to drive in the Windy City during the winter months! In order to help winter driving a little bit easier, be sure to follow these tips for winter driving in Chicago.
Avoid Cruise Control. Usually when you get a chance to use Cruise Control in a heavily congested city like Chicago, it is quite the fortuitous occasion. However, you may want to rely upon your own ability to speed up or slow down during the winter months, especially if there is a wintry mix on the ground.
Do Not Stop on Hills. Your commute may involve having to ascend or descend a few hills throughout the city. If you cannot avoid this, make sure you avoid stopping while climbing up the hill if possible, as your car could start to descend that hill backwards.
Keep Gas at Least Half Full. Here at Biggers Mitsubishi, we are a group of glass half full sort of people, so we are optimistic about driving this winter. Nevertheless, you may want to keep your gas tank at least half full at all times, just in case you need an extra heat source on the road if you become stranded.
This makes January the 11th month in a row that the crossover has seen a sales growth. This is a testament of the impressive 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, as it debuted last year and has been going strong ever since.
The 2016 Outlander has over 100 improvements, including changes to the interior and exterior design. In addition, there are more powertrain options and safety features. The Outlander is clearly Mitsubishi’s most advanced crossover yet, and was even named as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.
If you are interested in seeing why so many people are choosing to buy the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, stop into Biggers Mitsubishi. One test drive is all you will need to understand why Mitsubishi January sales of the Outlander are skyrocketing.
It’s about time. After teasing us about “The Return of a Legend” a few weeks ago, Biggers Mitsubishi could not wait a moment longer to find out what Mitsubishi had come up with.
Under the hood, the Concept GC-PHEV has a supercharged V6 and plug-in hybrid powertrain that makes 335 horsepower, all hooked up to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system.
More interestingly, the Concept GC-PHEV is the first vehicle to give us a preview of the automaker’s brand-new design language. According to Don Swearingen, Mitsubishi North America Executive VP, “All of our 2016 model year vehicles will be refreshed with our new brand identity, starting with the 2016 Outlander.”
When it comes to design, the Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV is a mix of chunky style and sci-fi influences. It has an augmented reality windshield, collision mitigating braking, and something called the Tactical Table. Though that sounds like something that would let you call in an airstrike against your enemies, what it actually does is let you place a smartphone on top of the table and automatically share information with the vehicle and other passengers—kinda like those computer tables that we thought would be the future before tablets came along. Less dramatic than an airstrike, but arguably more useful!
The 2014 Outlander has been holding strong throughout the year as a reliable vehicle priced affordably for those hunting for a car in its class. Initial drives are always good for a first impression, but let’s look at how Motor Trend’s 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander SE S-AWC has held up over the year.
The Outlander SE-AWC is equipped with the SE Touring package, which gives drivers some extra treats in their deal, including safety features like adaptive cruise control and technology additions such as a built-in navigation system. There are trim levels and additions available for the Outlander that you can request information on at Biggers Mitsubishi.
For the team leading Motor Trend’s 2014 Outlander review, the adaptive cruise control and the forward collision mitigation proved useful during long trips and daily commutes, making their personal driving experiences in the vehicle safer and proving the effectiveness of the systems.
The engine’s acceleration capability has remained smooth and steady, getting up to speed and maintaining with ease. Passing in traffic and getting up to standard highway speeds is relatively painless; even if the V4’s accelerator isn’t up to snuff for you, a zippier engine option is available.
Biggers Mitsubishi has a lot of choices if this sounds like the car for you. To preview our lot, visit our website or give us a visit!
