Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Evo Could Possibly Maybe Be Headed Our Way

You’ve likely heard by now that if you want to get your hands on the Mitsubishi Lancer and Lancer Evo models, you should head to Biggers Mitsubishi soon—like, really soon. Production for the models will end at the close of the year. However, according to circulating rumors, it seems the same fate will not befall the Evo badge.

The term “Evo” is short for “Evolution” and is synonymous with Mitsubishi’s brand of high performance. Seeing as the automaker is dedicating its efforts to furthering development of its SUV lineup, it only makes sense that the “Evo” designation would be reassigned to an SUV.

According to Auto Express, an auto publication based in the United Kingdom, Mitsubishi has its sights on the next-gen Outlander Sport (also known as the ASX in Europe) to wear the famed badge.

If that is the case, it still might be a little while before we see “Evo” stamped on a new model. Mitsubishi plans to take its time, introducing the next-generation model with four-wheel drive first and a two-wheel drive with plug-in hybrid technology second. Then, if Mitsu’s leadership chooses to adopt the “Evo” name and characteristics for the model, it “isn’t a huge jump.”

Of course we’ll have to wait and see what the automaker chooses to do, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for an Outlander Sport Evo model to come to the States relatively soon.

The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has once again made headlines, this time for being named one of the 10 Most Affordable SUVs on the market, according to the experts at Kelley Blue Book (KBB).

The popular model provides owners with a variety of standard and available features as well as reliable performance, all for a very affordable price. However, the Outlander Sport’s exceptional value doesn’t end there. KBB also takes into account the estimated cost of owning the SUV over a five-year period.

Factors used to determine the expected costs of ownership include depreciation, fuel costs, insurance, financing, and maintenance and repairs.
